In present-day industries, PLC and DCS systems of varying capacities and configurations manage plant operations. In Indian Industries, It is now more than 4 decades that we are using PLC and DCS systems of different make and configurations.
If the layout of the plant is in a large area, where equipment and devices are far away from the main controller or control room, then decentralized PLC systems were installed with separate control rooms. Later these were connected through FO networks. But in above mentioned solutions, physical connectivity was required which has its own drawback and limitations.
Changed Condition
Now there are network devices, controllers and systems available which can connect different systems or IO stations, wirelessly. The connection is reliable and eliminates the requirement of any physical connectivity.
